Public Safety
Rep. Veasey sponsored the House passage of SB 1238, a bill that bans the consumption of alcoholic beverages in the vicinity of homeless shelters and substance abuse rehabilitation clinics. Many residents in these facilities already suffer from some form of alcohol or drug addiction, and the consumption of such beverages have too often lead to dangerous or criminal situations. This law will improve public safety while aiding the homeless and those with substance addictions as they seek to reestablish their path in life.
